The International Women's Day under the weeping in South Kivu

The International Women's Day celebrated on 8 March each year has not been welcome organizations defending the rights of women in South Kivu province. Many organizations believe that we should not celebrate this day as the situation of women of South kivu is not yet improved. In South Kivu's theme was framed with the improvement of living conditions of rural women. Until today, it remains unfortunate and without any shelter. Organizations defending the rights of women think that this day should be a day of reflection and meditation.
At Sange for example, the night of the celebration of International Women's Day, hundreds of women of Sange in Uvira (South Kivu) have reported the rape of six of them in the space of one week by unidentified gunmen.

They have indicated their indignation, Tuesday, March 6, during the preparatory meeting of the International Women's Day celebrated on 8 March each year. These women draw on the alarm light of the fact that the number of women raped in a week has exceeded that of women raped throughout the year 2011. Indeed, four women had been raped this year. The representative women of Sange called the military to increase security and to conduct investigations to find the perpetrators of these heinous acts. While no military authority does talk about this issue, the administrator of the territory of Uvira Singa Zebedee announces the establishment of a commission of inquiry to investigate this increase in sexual violence in its territory. Association of Media Women of South Kivu, SK AFEM regrets that rural women, although the center of the International Women's Day in 2012 is "far removed from political realities in the DRC". AFEM requests the Government and the Ministry of Gender, Family and Children, to mentor women who play it believes a major role in the development of the country. "We believe that there is no better future for rural women, since these women are not involved in policy making [DRC]," lamented Chouchou Namegabe Coordinator AFEM SK.
