AFEM SK publishes two documentaries on sexual violence in South Kivu


"The presence of military and political authorities was important
so that we may be edified of the recurring situation of sexual violence in the province of South Kivu." These words was said by participants in the exchange which was organized by Women's Media Association of South Kivu AFEM SK. Due to the material being processed, participants thought that it was essential to share with the military authorities, who have their office in the protection of national territory.
A screening of two documentaries on sexual violence in South Kivu was made to scan the status of women in the territories of South Kivu province. During two hours, the actors of civil society and those politics have had a debate about the question.
The two documentaries depicting the life of women in Shabunda and Fizi. These two territories, known by most of the cases of sexual violence, have been trading this Thursday, June 7.
Listening the President of the Board of AFEM SK Jolly Kamuntu, this activity inserted through the awareness campaign to fight violence against the woman sexual violence. AFEM SK was assigned the task of making a plea to the national and international level to fight against this scourge. This campaign has as theme: "break the silence, the media against sexual violence." For many participants, the debate was good. For them, they deplore the fact that many political and military authorities are not present at this meeting.
The two documentaries will be translated into English before their official publication.
